Did you know,
59% of flood affected individuals (2010) had post-traumatic stress disorder, that is out of 422 individuals, 249 individuals. Also, found that post-traumatic stress disorder and depression was more amongst females, uneducated and those living in joint family system. There are numerous studies showing incidents of depression, emotional and behavioral problems amongst adults and children. This is due to child abuse, sexual abuse, targeted killings, sectarian violence, terrorism, natural disasters and the list goes on.
As we have dedicated this week for spreading PTSD awareness and today 27th June is PTSD Awareness Day. Therefore, the following BIH’s mental health consultants talk about what we need to do if we or anyone we know is suffering from PTSD.
